Still in Sound explores how visitors may experience abstract visual language through sound. Designed to facilitate visceral, whole-body experiences with Clyfford Still’s work, this exhibition presents abstraction as an active, dynamic medium for interdisciplinary and cross-cultural creative communion. The exhibition curators engaged contemporary artists who work with sound in their practice to select an abstract Clyfford Still artwork and compose an original, sonic interpretation in response. Their selections and resulting interpretations set the tone for each of the Clyfford Still Museum’s largest galleries.
